Happy Birthday Charity!

14-10-6
This is the biggest cake I've made so far...for my baby sister's 18th birthday. I wanted to attempt to make a big cake and a topsy turvy cake and this was the perfect opportunity for me to do both. It was very frustrating trying to cover the 14" tier with fondant so I ended up covering just the top in one piece and then I did 5" sections all around the bottom. The decorations covered all the seams so you couldn't tell it wasn't covered in one big piece. I've decided that if I ever have to make a cake this size again, it won't be topsy turvy because this one was too hard for me to carve! I think this cake could have served like 1,000 people. lol We only used 3/4 of the middle tier for the party! And we cut big slices too! White almond sour cream cake with buttercream filling. Iced with white chocolate ganache and then covered in marshmallow fondant. After tasting it, I decided that I prefer buttercream under the fondant instead only because the ganache made it too sweet for my taste. =)
